Catch the bus month is back

This September the popular ‘Catch the Bus Month’ organised by Bus Users UK has returned. The campaign helps to raise awareness of the many benefits of travelling by bus.

To celebrate Catch the Bus Month, Stagecoach South West are giving away travel vouchers across September in their ‘By Bus’ Twitter Competition. Maybe you’re already a regular bus user, or an occasional traveller, or perhaps you’re interested in just giving the bus a try? To mark the campaign Stagecoach want to spread the word on why buses are so important to British life!

The biggest opportunity to address climate change and protect our communities is to encourage the switch from cars to greener and healthier public transport and active travel. Buses improve air quality, reduce congestion, and offer access to vital connections. A double decker bus is one of the most sustainable forms of transport available with the capability of taking up to 75 cars off the road. Plus, switching just 1 journey in 25 to the bus would save 2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Buses also help to reduce isolation and improve health and wellbeing. Stagecoach recently partnered with local charity Westbank to relaunch the Chatty Bus project, seeing volunteers travel each week across its southwest bus routes to engage with passengers. The scheme aims to tackle loneliness and equip people with a variety of tools and information to improve their wellbeing.

Local bus networks make a significant contribution to the UK population; socially, economically and environmentally. Buses are also a vital lifeline for communities offering connections to healthcare, education, jobs, retail and leisure.

To enter the ‘By Bus’ competition simply tweet your bus themed photos to @StagecoachSw with the hashtags #CatchTheBusMonth #ByBus to let everyone know why it’s great to be on board.

To be entered into our prize draw for the chance to win free travel, simply share a photo of one of the following:

• Your favourite destination by bus
• A scenic view from a bus
• One of Stagecoach South West’s buses with a picturesque backdrop
• A selfie of you on board
• Your furry friend enjoying the bus ride with you.

Competition terms and conditions

• Competition open to midnight on 30th September 2022
• Winners to be contacted by 9th October 2022
• Employees of Stagecoach are not eligible to enter
• Prizes are final, no cash alternatives on offer
• Winners will be issued vouchers to the equivalent of a week of travel across buses in the South West Network excluding South West Falcon.
• Winners will be issued with either a paper voucher or digital discount code valid for free travel on Stagecoach South West services. Stagecoach is not responsible for the cost of any transport winners choose to use over and above Stagecoach's scheduled services. Prior to attending the event, winners are advised to plan their journey by using the journey planner at www.stagecoachbus.com or downloading the app from the App and Play stores.
