Stagecoach apologise for roadwork chaos – with free bus travel in November!

10 Oct 2014

Stagecoach will offer free bus travel throughout November on route 66. This travel promotion is a special thank you to passengers for their patience throughout the road works in/around Winchester.

Stagecoach South hopes that this fantastic offer will encourage new customers to give the bus a go and previous customers to get back on board.

Andrew Dyer, Regional Managing Director for Stagecoach said “We would like to thank all our customers for their continued support throughout the road works...Whilst the road works were not something Stagecoach could control, we’re aware of the disruption to normal travel.”

The 66 service is very popular with commuters and students. It provides a vital link between Romsey and Winchester and consequently has just been awarded financial support from Hampshire County Council. The service now offers:

  • A half-hourly day time service
  • Extra, early journeys
  • Evening journeys (the last bus from Winchester leaves at 10.40pm)
  • A new, hourly service for Sunday shopping.

The good news doesn’t stop there! All residents in the Romsey/Woodley area can travel completely free on all 66 journeys from 2 November to 8 November (inclusive).

Stagecoach South is committed to the delivery of customer-focused bus services and continually reviews fares and timetables to improve punctuality, reliability and value. They hope to encourage more and more Hampshire residents to try the bus.

Andrew Dyer added “there really is no better time to give it a go. Many Stagecoach buses in South Hampshire are less than 10 years old (so, lower in emissions) have free WiFi, low-floor easy access and comfortable seats.”

These offers are only available on route 66. November’s free travel (for all passengers) commences at 7pm, Monday to Friday (inclusive) and all day Sunday. This offer is for the month of November 2014 only. Free travel for Romsey residents, is for those that board within the following Romsey border: Bus station and the junction of Jermyns Lane, A3090.
