Route 66 gets better and with Free bus travel in November

23 Oct 2014

Route 66 (Romsey to Winchester) is getting better and we are pleased to celebrate with a free travel promotion in November.  In late October route 66 saw some fantastic improvements:

  • All buses will serve the new Abbotswood development
  • Double the frequency between Romsey and Winchester with a half-hourly day time service
  • Extra, early journeys
  • Good connections to London trains
  • Evening journeys (the last bus from Winchester leaves at 10.40pm)
  • A new, hourly service for Sunday shopping
  • Now serves Hillier Gardens

The promotion is as follows:

  • Anyone can travel on route 66 for free in the evening (after 7pm) and all day Sunday from 2 November - 31 November 2014 (inclusive).

Andrew Dyer, Regional Managing Director for Stagecoach said “We are so please to offer this travel promotion to Romsey and Winchester residents. We’ve made a number of improvements to route 66 and hope that this will encourage past, present and prospective passengers to get on board.”

The route is very popular with commuters and students. The ‘66’ is the vital link between Romsey and Winchester, via the new Abbotswood housing development and funding from the new development means that we are able to offer the improved frequency and evening and Sunday services.

Stagecoach South is committed to the delivery of customer-focused bus services and continually reviews fares and timetables to improve punctuality, reliability and value. They hope to encourage more and more Hampshire residents to try the bus.

The service changed on Sunday 26th October and a new timetable is already available online.

The above offers are only available on route 66. November’s free travel (for all passengers) commences at 7pm, Monday to Friday (inclusive) and all day Sunday. This offer is for the month of November 2014 only.
