We all need to do whatever we can to protect each other from Coronavirus, so in line with the latest government guidance, there are measures in place to help you to travel with confidence, including limiting available seats on buses and enhanced cleaning. Unless you’re exempt, you must wear a face covering when using public transport, throughout your journey. Please avoid busy times, use contactless payment where you can and take your litter with you. For up to date information see our Coronavirus page.

From Monday 16th April, a new improved timetable will be introduced on the route 55, which links Tangmere and Boxgrove with Chichester city centre. The new timetables will see buses running every 20 minutes during Monday to Friday daytimes.
Edward Hodgson, Managing Director for Stagecoach South said “Route 55 provides valuable transport for residents of Tangmere and Boxgrove to Chichester city centre, ideal for commuters, students and shoppers. It also provides the essential link to St Richard's Hospital for the whole area. We hope that the improved 20 minute frequency will be welcomed by existing passengers as well as attracting new customers”.
As part of a package of improvements to the service, Stagecoach have also upgraded the bus fleet, which now has free WiFi on board, and introduced a striking new livery for the buses running on the route which celebrates the history of the British Aviation in the area particularly appropriate as Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is at the end of the route.
Stagecoach teamed up with the Museum who hosted the launch of the new buses and timetable.
Edward added “Tourism is vital to the economy of the local area and Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is a great place to visit for aviation enthusiasts, historians and families with route 55 providing a regular link to the museum.
We have a strong track record of attracting more people to bus travel and we will continue to focus on providing good value, high-quality services for local residents as well as visitors to the area."
Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is home to a large display of historic aircraft aviation memorabilia stretching from the First World War through to the Cold War. The adjacent RAF Tangmere airfield was a former RAF station famed for its role in the Battle of Britain.
Group Captain David Baron, the Museum's Chairman said “Tangmere Military Aviation Museum welcomes the improved service that terminates by the Museum in Tangmere. More and more of our visitors use this convenient service to come to one of the UK’s leading aviation museums, run entirely by volunteers. I am also very impressed that Stagecoach have placed the heritage of the area at the centre of their striking new livery for the route".
Other improvements introduced recently by Stagecoach to make bus travel more easier include contactless payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, together with a smartphone app which includes journey planning, next-stop information and live bus tracking, and enables people to buy and download discounted bus tickets straight to their mobile phone.
