New Year brings new bus services

15 Jan 2015

Stagecoach in Sheffield is making a number of changes to its services this month.

As part of its regular review of services carried out using customer feedback, Stagecoach is introducing a revised route on its SL3 Crystal Peaks – Killamarsh service to additionally serve Asda Drakehouse. The route is timed to meet the Supertram at Moss Way.

Following retendering by SYPTE, Stagecoach will take on service 201 (Chapeltown to Stocksbridge) from 26 January. It operates hourly on Mondays to Saturdays – there are no changes to the timetable.

Stagecoach will also assume responsibility for some journeys on service 31 (Sheffield – Hillsborough/Loxley). Stagecoach buses will run Monday to Friday early morning journeys, evening journeys throughout the week and the Sunday service.

On service 265 Sheffield – Barnsley, Stagecoach is making minor timetable changes to some early morning journeys. Additionally, following a tender process by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE), early morning journeys on Saturdays and late evening trips throughout the week will no longer be operated by Stagecoach.

Early morning journeys on service 120 will operate slightly earlier to better suit shift change times following customer requests.

Services 122 (Holbrook – Sheffield - Royal Hallamshire Hospital) and 123 (Crystal Peaks – Woodhouse - Sheffield) will have slightly revised timetables with changes made to improve punctuality.

There are also minor revisions to the timetable on services 79/79A (Chapeltown – Sheffield - Batemoor) with increased time allowed on Sundays to improve punctuality.

The timetable on service 35A (Chapeltown – Thorncliffe Industrial Estate) will be altered to operate at key shift times.

Paul Lynch, managing director, Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We’re really pleased to be starting the New Year with the introduction of two new Stagecoach services for passengers in Sheffield.

“Whenever we make changes to our network, it is always based on feedback from customers to ensure we operate services that meet the needs and benefit the majority of people.”

To ensure easier access from the road crossings, Stagecoach services 31 and 79/79A will operate via the Castle Gate 3 bus stop following a change by the SYPTE.
