Service changes for Barnsley & Dearne Valley announced by Stagecoach
Leading bus operator Stagecoach Yorkshire has announced a number of service changes for Barnsley and the Dearne Valley to be introduced in September.
Alterations including timetable, service and operator changes will come into effect from .Sunday 4 September.
Following the end of the school summer holidays, services 1 Barnsley – Staincross, 6 Barnsley – Kendray and 11 Barnsley to Athersley North will revert back to normal timetables and run up to every 10 minutes.
Minor timetable changes to improve punctuality will also be made to Services 8/8a Barnsley–Worsbrough Dale, as well as to early evening timings for Service 12 Barnsley–Athersley South.
A new timetable will be introduced on service X19 Barnsley – Doncaster. –We regret that the section of the route between Doncaster and Robin Hood Airport will be withdrawn following the loss of a South Yorkshire Passenher Transport Executive tender and replaced by a new service X4 provided by First. Some evening journeys between Barnsley and Doncaster will also be withdrawn following the withdrawal of financial support by SYPTE.
Service 22x Barnsley–Rotherham will see minor changes to afternoon peak times between Wath and Rotherham to improve coordination with First services 22a/22c .
There will be minor timetable changes to improve punctuality on services 28/48 Barnsley/Upton–Pontefract, as well as services 34/34a Barnsley–Shafton Green.
Minor changes to improve punctuality will also affect the evening timetable for service 59 Barnsley–Wakefield, as well as at peak times on services 93/95 Barnsley–Woolley Grange/Kexbrough.
Evening peak timetable changes will be introduced on the 218 Barnsley–Rotherham to improve punctuality and maintain coordination with service 219.
An additional Monday to Friday journey will be introduced on services 219/219a Barnsley–Doncaster – at06:20 hrs from Goldthorpe to Barnsley via XPO Logistics at 06:49 hrs.
Stagecoach will take over as operator on two local school services - the 410 Barnsley (Townend roundabout) – Penistone Grammar School, via Dodworth, Gilroyd, Hood Green, Crane Moor and Thurgoland, and the 422 Dodworth (South Road) - Penistone Grammar School via Silkstone Common and Thurgoland.Globe Coaches will take over running the 416 Silkstone–Penistone Grammar School and 493 Higham–Darton College services.
