All aboard for Stagecoach Yorkshire festive sing-a-long!

Children from a Sheffield primary school have helped Stagecoach Yorkshire passengers get into the Christmas spirit as they performed a collection of carols on the bus before displaying a festive ensemble at Sheffield rail station.

The unique travel experience, saw 26 Year 1 children and parents from Mundella Primary School in  Norton Lees sing to Stagecoach passengers on the X17 to Sheffield rail station.

The children, aged five and six, received free travel courtesy of Stagecoach Yorkshire to the station and performed festive classics including Silent Night, We wish you a Merry Christmas and Jingle Bells.

The children were raising money for Health Poverty Action, an organisation that specialises in helping disadvantaged people in their struggle for health and quality of life. Thanks to choirs, schools and HPA supporters the charity can continue their vital work for the people who need it.

John Young, commercial director at Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We would like to thank all the children and teachers from Mundella School treating our customers to a festive sing-a-long on our X17 route..

“The children performed excellently; it was lovely for them to brighten up the days of our passengers and help everyone get into the festive spirit

“We would also like to congratulate the children for their outstanding charitable efforts for Health Poverty Action”

Mrs Stocks, from Mundella Primary School, said: “We are very grateful to Stagecoach for providing our class with free travel into the city centre.

“The company have been so helpful and great to work with. As the school’s music co-ordinator it is brilliant that we have been able to organise this free musical event for the children in order to raise money for charity.”
