National lockdown restrictions are in place across England. Until 2 December, you should only travel for work, education or other permitted reasons. From 2 December England will be returning to a 3 Tier System. Find out more about local restrictions.

A tiered system of protection levels is in operation across Scotland. So, if you need to travel, make sure you're up-to-date with what's happening in your area by checking the local government guidance.

We've put in place measures to allow you to travel safely including limiting available seats on buses and enhanced cleaning. Unless you’re exempt, you must wear a face covering throughout your journey. Please avoid busy times, use contactless payment where you can, keep your distance and take your litter with you. New MD joins Stagecoach Yorkshire

Matt Davies has joined leading bus operator Stagecoach Yorkshire as its new managing director.


Matt, 42, has more than 20 years’ experience in the bus industry and most recently held the position of operations director at Stagecoach Manchester.


He started his career in 1995 as a management trainee with Lincolnshire RoadCar after completing a Transport Management degree at the University of Northumbria.


Matt joined Arriva North West in 1998, becoming general manager in 2000. From 2006, he also held two operations director posts with First Yorkshire West and First Manchester before joining Stagecoach Manchester in 2012.


During Matt’s time at Stagecoach Manchester, the company’s operations have grown from 630 buses to 800 buses through acquisitions and expansion.


Former Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director Paul Lynch, who held the position for 10 years, has been appointed as Stagecoach’s Regional Director North.


Matt Davies said: "I am delighted to be taking on this role and I look forward to working with the Stagecoach team in Yorkshire, and our many partners, to continue delivering high-quality, affordable bus travel, strong partnership working and excellent customer service for the millions of people that rely on our services every day.”


Stagecoach Yorkshire has around 1,200 employees, a fleet of around 400 buses and carries more than 45 million passengers a year. The company’s buses cover around 20 million miles each year.
