Stagecoach fundraising ‘push’ to drive up £900 charity donation
From sweets in jars to washing cars - Stagecoach Yorkshire staff have donated more than £900 to a local children’s hospice as part of an ongoing fundraising drive.
Employees at the Rawmarsh depot kicked off the fundraising campaign for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in March when staff were invited to donate the cost of an Easter Egg to a collection for the charity.
A team of drivers and other Stagecoach staff then decided to continue fundraising and went on to hold other events including a raffle with prizes donated by staff and local businesses, as well as a ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ competition.
Three staff also gave up their day off to wash other employees’ cars for a £3 per vehicle donation.
After delivering the cheque for £967.39 to Bluebell Wood, the Rawmarsh team are not taking their next charity effort lying down – and are instead organising a ‘Bed Push’.
The charity event will see staff in costume pushing a bed through the streets, beginning in Wombwell and finishing in Rotherham, on Stagecoach’s popular 22x bus route.
John Young, Stagecoach Yorkshire commercial director, said: “The success of previous fundraising efforts by the team has been fantastic and we can’t wait to see how much more money the Bed Push will generate for this great cause.”
