Dining at the depot – bus staff host charity tea party
Stagecoach Yorkshire staff turned their depot into a diner for the day – to host a tea party which raised £240 for Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
Drivers and engineers enjoyed a cuppa and tucked in to home-made goodies including meat and potato pie, sausage rolls, and chilli pulled pork, as well as sandwiches and cake at the bus company’s Ecclesfield Depot, to support the Time For Tea initiative.
Time For Tea launched in 2014 for the charity’s 20th anniversary and Stagecoach Yorkshire staff have supported it every year. The event is about getting friends, family, colleagues and the community together to enjoy tea and treats, while helping to raise funds.
The event was organised by bus driver Kirsty Long and her mother Pauline Goldsborough.
Kirsty said: “I lost my dad to cancer four years ago and have lost an aunt to the disease, too.
“We were so pleased to see my colleagues at Ecclesfield enjoying the tea party and donating because every penny we can raise is a step closer to finding a cure.”
Weston Park Hospital is one of only four specialist cancer hospitals in England and serves a population of 1.8million people from all across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire.
