Stagecoach Bus App megariders

31 Mar 2017

Passengers across South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire can now benefit from the convenience of buying weekly tickets online through the Stagecoach Bus app.

7 day megarider tickets, including child and student tickets, are now available to purchase through the Stagecoach Bus app, alongside day tickets which have been available since November 2016.

Once purchased, passengers in South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire can download their weekly tickets straight on to their smartphone and show it on any Stagecoach bus and Supertram.

Payments via the app can be made by PayPal, via debit or credit card or  with Apple Pay or Google Pay,    offering an additional payment option for customers alongside existing smart ticketing and cash payments.

The Stagecoach Bus app was introduced in 2016 and is available free of charge for Apple and Android mobile phones, offering a variety of journey planning tools for customers.

The app provides mobile ticketing, journey planning information and a simple journey planning tool which uses interactive maps. The smartphone GPS system helps customers identify their nearest bus stop and the most suitable bus service for their journey requirements, while additional information, including journey length and available fare options, are also provided.

Matt Davies, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We live in a digital era in which more and more people use their smartphones for everyday activities, from mobile banking to online shopping. It was therefore only logical that we make tickets available to purchase on the Stagecoach Bus app.

“We continue to develop ways we can improve and enhance our services, and we hope this latest update will benefit customers throughout the region.”
