Stagecoach comedy street team entertain shoppers in Barnsley
People in Barnsley town centre were treated to special comedy street entertainment performances this week thanks to Stagecoach Yorkshire.
The performers from Markmark Productions were on hand to help the leading bus operator promote the extension of the Stagecoach Gold X17 route to the town.
The X17 service, which currently operates between Matlock, Chesterfield and Sheffield, is set to be extended to serve Meadowhall and Barnsley from Sunday 22 July.
The route will also serve the new IKEA store and FlyDSA Arena – the first time a Stagecoach service has done this.
Operating seven days a week, the new-look Gold X17 will be a limited stop, express service, using the motorway between Meadowhall and Barnsley (J36).
Passengers will also benefit from free on-board Wi-Fi, luxury leather, high-back seats and ambient lighting.
Matt Davies, Managing Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We wanted to raise awareness of the new X17 route in Barnsley in a fun, exciting way and the performers from Markmark Productions went down extremely well.
“The extension of this service means more people have easier access to employment, particularly for those working at popular retail destinations such as IKEA, Meadowhall and the FlyDSA Arena.
“Passengers will be able to travel in luxury surroundings and check emails, browse the internet or catch up with friends on social media during the journey thanks to our free Wi-Fi.
“The X17 has grown to be an extremely popular route and we hope these new enhancements will encourage even more people to try the service.”
