New Stagecoach smartcard tickets available for Sheffield students

20 Sep 2018

Transport operator Stagecoach has launched its popular annual Unirider tickets on handy StagecoachSmart travel cards to help Sheffield students and apprentices save on travel costs and protect their bus and tram tickets.

Students at Sheffield College, The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University can buy an annual Unirider ticket online to use on the bus or tram in Sheffield – all options are available with a valid NUS, NUS Extra, NUS Apprentice card or student ID card.

It is the first time Sheffield students can benefit from using an annual smartcard for travel, which means that their travel ticket easily fits into their purse or wallet, the ticket is protected if it is lost or stolen and it’s quick and easy to hop on the bus.

Students can still buy a range of other tickets online, including Xtra automatic monthly payment tickets for the bus or tram in Sheffield which means they can save money without having to remember to buy a new ticket each month.

Stagecoach’s student ticket range already includes the £9 Sheffield student bus megarider, offering unlimited weekly travel on all buses in Sheffield and single £1.20 bus fares.

Matt Davies, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We want to keep on making bus and tram travel as simple, easy and cost-effective as possible and we are really pleased to be extending our smartcard travel options so even more young people can benefit from our fares.

“Our flexible weekly and monthly tickets are incredibly popular because they provide unlimited travel on Stagecoach buses and trams in Sheffield, saving students time and money compared to buying individual tickets.
