Buses in South Yorkshire and Stagecoach Supertram support Armed Forces Day with free travel.
Bus operators Stagecoach and First in South Yorkshire and Stagecoach Supertram are offering free bus travel to armed forces personnel carrying ID on Armed Forces Day on 22 and 29 June 2019
Bus operators and Stagecoach Supertram are helping to support military personnel and veterans on Armed Forces Days on 22 and 29 June 2019 by offering them free travel to get around to military events and spend time with their families and comrades.
On 22 June armed forces personnel carrying a military ID card and veterans carrying a veteran’s badge can travel around Sheffield for free on First buses and Stagecoach buses and trams.
On 29 June free travel will be available to armed forces personnel carrying a military ID card and to veterans carrying a veteran’s badge on all Stagecoach buses and trams in South Yorkshire, Chesterfield and North Derbyshire.*
Armed Forces Day is a chance for the public to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
With events planned throughout South Yorkshire and Derbyshire (details can be found here: https://www.armedforcesday.org.uk/find-events/) it is hoped that personnel will take up the offer to travel to the event of their choice.
Matt Davies, Stagecoach Yorkshire said; “We are delighted to once again be supporting our Armed Forces communities in this way. By providing free bus and tram travel to military personnel we hope to be able to give a well-deserved morale boost for our local troops.”
