Changes to bus services in West Cumbria

We are making some changes to our services in West Cumbria from Tuesday 3rd January 2017. The changes have been made following a review of passenger numbers and because we are required to ensure all services run with buses that meet standards for disability access. Full details of the services affected are outlined below.

Timetables will be available online over the next few weeks.

Service 2 - Woodhouse to Whitehaven

The frequency of this service has been reduced to run very 30 minutes. From Strand Street, buses will depart at 20 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour. The 1920 and 2120 have been re-timed to run 15 minutes earlier and the 2320 Fri-Sat journey will no longer run. 

Service 22 - Moresby Parks to Whitehaven

This service will no longer run.

Service 30/31 - Egremont/Thornhill - Maryport

There are more evening buses with the 30 running every hour and an extra journey from Thornhill at 2155. The 0520 Mon-Fri journey from Maryport will no longer run and the 1835 and 1905 Mon-Sat journey will also not run. 

Service X30 - Egremont/Thornhil

This service has been re-timed to run 30 minutes earlier from Whitehaven. Journeys will now leave at 10 past the hour.

Service 31H - Frizington to Whitehaven (via the West Cumberland Hospital)

The frequency of this service has been reduced to run every hour from 0948 until 1348.

Service 32 Frizington - Whitehaven

This service has been re-timed to run 30 minutes later from Whitehaven. This service will no longer serve Gillfoot Road, Sothey Avenue or Baybarrow Road.

Service 48 Workington - Northside

This service will no longer run.

Service 87 Cockermouth - Sellafield

This service will no longer run.

Service 300/301 Whitehaven - Carlisle

The 0605 Mon-Sat from Whitehaven has been re-timed to run 5 minutes earlier to improve punctuality. There is an extra Sunday journey from Carlisle at 1010 and Wigton at 0837 to maintain a 2 hourly service.

Service 600 Whitehaven - Carlisle

This service has been re-timed completely and we have added an extra journey at 1345 from the hospital. School journey from Cockermouth has been re-numbered to a 34C.

Service 74 and 75 school services

Only students with Cumbria County Council entitlement passes will be able to use these services. Normal passengers are unable to use this service but should use service 30/31 instead.
