Keeping Lincoln Moving

Please  read below for updated information on the bus station move.

From 28 August 2016, as part of the redevelopment programme, Lincoln City Bus Station will be moving to Tentercroft Street temporarily whilst the new bus station is being built.

We have been working together with Lincolnshire County Council, Lincoln City Council and Lincoln Business Improvement Group to make this transition as easy and convenient as possible for you.

This has resulted in amendments to your bus routes in the City Centre and minor alterations to some bus times.

Buses from the North of the City, routes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 53, will run along Broadgate and the new East West Link Road in both directions. In addition, services 4, 17 and 18 will serve St Swithins Square, Bank Street and Silver Street on journeys out of the City Centre.

From the South of the City, services 1, 13, 14, 26, 27, 44 and 66, buses will run directly to Tentercroft Street along the High Street in both directions.

Services 2 and 31 from the East of the City will enter and leave the temporary bus station via Canwick Road and the new East West Link Road.

Services 29 and 46 will enter the City via Tritton Road, Ropewalk and St Marks Street and services 100, 103 and 106 from the west of the City will run along Brayford Way, Ropewalk and St Marks Street, on to Tentercroft Street, leaving the City Centre by the same routes.

On this page you will find the following information to help you get around the City easily:

  • A bus stop map of where to catch your bus in the City Centre
  • A map of the bus station on Tentercroft Street, listing which services go from which departure stands
  • Updated route descriptions.
The bus station at Tentercroft Street is closer to St Marks Shopping Centre. We are aware that it is further away from the Market Traders, Cornhill and Waterside Shopping Centre which are very popular areas.

We have introduced a new ticket offer ‘one stop bus hop’. When you arrive in Tentercroft Street bus station, you can hop straight onto a service 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 or 53 and travel to Broadgate for no extra charge. Simply show the bus driver the single or return ticket you have already purchased within one hour. There is a new bus stop where you can hop off at the entrance to the old bus station site on broadgate.

For more information, maps and where to catch your bus please see below.

City Centre Stops

During the redevelopment the following bus stops within the City Centre will not be in use: all stops on Newland, St Mary’s Street, Pelham Street, Portland Street and the stop opposite the Stonebow Centre on Silver Street. Additionally, new stops will be placed outside the old bus station on Broadgate, towards Lindum Hill and opposite Debenhams on St Mark Street, to the temporary bus station.

The map below shows the bus stops in use and which services run from each stop. Red stops are for journeys coming into the city whilst blue stops are for buses leaving the City Centre.
