StagecoachSmart gets your ticket in your hand while helping to reduce paper waste. What’s even better is your smart card is reusable and allows you to top up with more tickets online directly from the bus driver!
What tickets can I get on my StagecoachSmart card?
DayRider, MegaRider and Flexi5 tickets can all be loaded onto your StagecoachSmart card. They are as follows:

How Does the StagecoachSmart card work?
- If you don’t already have a smartcard, the driver will issue you with one (there is a £1 charge for new cards issued). If you’re buying from our website and don’t already have a card, your ticket will be loaded onto a StagecoachSmart card and delivered to you- Reload your card by buying tickets online or from the driver
- Reuse your card and remember it for every journey
- Once your tickets are loaded onto your card, simply tap your card on the ticket machine when you board the bus.
Don’t forget to register your card! You can do this by logging in or creating a new account– it won't cost you a penny, but could save you if you lose your card!

Why should I get a StagecoachSmart card?
- It's quicker - it speeds up boarding times when tickets are loaded onto a StagecoachSmart card. The card is placed on our ticket machine, and it will beep to confirm you have a valid ticket loaded
- Added protection - if you register your StagecoachSmart card online, you've got added protection if you lose it or it gets stolen or damaged. We can block your current smart card and issue a new one, transferring any tickets you have loaded onto the new card.
- Customer helpline - once you've registered your smart card online, you can use our helpline if you have any problems with it
- No more paper tickets - you can reuse your StagecoachSmart card again and again, there's no need to hunt for your paper ticket each time you board
I’ve lost my StagecoachSmart Card what do I do?
Firstly, we're really sorry this has happened to you. It's never a nice feeling. But don't worry, we'll help you sort it out in no time.
All you need to do is get in touch either by:
- Using the 'My Account’ section on our website
- Sending us an email at [email protected]
If you've got five or more days left on your ticket(s), we'll add this to a new card and send it to you within 3-5 working days.
We know you might need to use our buses between now and then. Hold onto any paper tickets you buy while waiting for your new card. We'll let you know how to claim a refund (if you're eligible).
We automatically register your StagecoachSmart card when you get it online. This way you don't need to worry about losing your tickets too.
If you got your card on the bus, remember to register it online. Just use the unique 18-digit code on the back. This will help protect your tickets if your card is ever stolen or lost.
Paying Monthly
Don't forget you can also pay for your travel by a monthly recurring payment with our MegariderXtra tickets. Buy your MegariderXtra ticket online and you'll never need to remember to renew it, monthly payments will be taken from your nominated debit or credit card each month and your ticket will be loaded onto your smart card!
