We have been monitoring park&ride services over the past few months and despite our best efforts, some services continue to be delayed at peak times due to the amount of traffic on the road. So that we can give the best possible service we are making the following changes:
The Red park&ride and the Green park&ride will be split into separate services, all starting and terminating in the city centre..
In general, frequencies will remain the same. The timetables for the separate services will remain largely the same between the park&ride sites and the City Centre.
Some stops will change though. See below for full details.
PR1 will operate between the City Centre and Madingley Road park&ride. This service will also serve the stop on Jesus Lane, near Belmont Place, so customers can access the Grafton Centre. This service will also be using St Andrews Street instead of Drummer Street
Buses from Central Cambridge to Madingley Road will depart from St Andrews Street stop S3.
These buses will also continue to serve Bridge Street in both directions.
PR2 will operate between Newmarket Road and Central Cambridge.
Buses towards Cambridge before 9am will continue to serve Napier Street instead of Grafton Centre bus facility. Towards Newmarket Road, this service will depart from Drummer Street stop D2
The service will also use different stops at Cambridge Retail Park. Towards Cambridge it won't use the stop outside Travelodge. It will serve the stop opposite Tesco instead.
After 9am the service will continue to serve Grafton Centre in both directions.
PR3 will continue to operate as it currently does. However, it will serve Fitzwilliam Museum instead of the stop just before Pembroke Street. No other changes will be made.
PR4 will operate between Babraham Road and Central Cambridge. The service will not serve Grafton Centre and it will start/terminate at Emmanuel Street stop E5.
Buses will continue to serve Cambridge Leisure to drop off customers on the inbound journeys before 10:30 and pick up customers travelling towards Babraham Road after 15:00
Customers that use the current service between Addenbrooke's /Cambridge Rail Station to/from Cambridge Science Park can use the Busway A instead.
PR5 will operate between Milton park&ride and Central Cambridge.
The bus will operate a one way loop in the city centre. The bus will stop at Victoria Avenue to drop off customers, Drummer Street stop D1 and then Grafton Centre before heading back towards Milton.
Customers from Milton travelling to the Grafton can either get off the bus at Victoria Avenue or remain on the bus on its journey back towards Milton as it will call at Grafton on the way back.
Customers travelling between Cambridge Rail Station and Cambridge Science Park can use the Busway A service instead.
All park&ride services will also continue to serve all stops on the route after 1830 each day.
