Cherry Hinton Road Works

Cherry Hinton Road Works

When and Where are the roadworks scheduled to take place?

Road works will be carried out at the Robin Hood junction in Cherry Hinton from Monday 18th January 2021 for approximately 18 weeks.

Which services will be affected by these works?

Routes 1 and 3.

Will there be new timetables in operation because of this?

No, there will be no changes made to the timetables currently in operation, but this may be subject to change as the roadworks progress and congestion potentially increases.

Will services need to follow a diversion during the works?

Initially our services will not need to operate on a diversion. Should this change, the diversion will be communicated on this webpage as well as via tweets, email and service updates with plenty of notice.

Is it likely that the works will affect journey times?

There may be some affect on the journey times of routes 1 and 3 but this is dependent on traffic. Should levels of congestion mean that our services are experiencing severe delays, a contingency plan will be introduced to address this and minimise the impact on our passengers.

How will you respond if there is increased congestion as a result of the road works?

During the national lockdown we do not expect these works to cause a significant impact to our journey times or service reliability as travel is for essential purposes only and so we anticipate an easing of congestion on the roads in general.   We will regularly monitor the impact of these works on our services and have a contingency plan in place should we need to respond to increased traffic and passenger demand.

This plan includes the following potential changes:

• Route 1 would operate between Arbury and Addenbrookes only.

• Route 3 would operate between Fison Road and the City Centre only.

• New route, R1 would be introduced and operate from Addenbrookes to Cherry Hinton, with some journeys to Fulbourn.

• A second new route, R3 would also be introduced and operate from the City Centre via the Rail Station to Cherry Hinton, again with some journeys extending to Fulbourn.
