Coronavirus Update Close

In line with the latest government guidance, we've put in place further measures in England to help customers practice social distancing. This includes limiting the available seats on buses.

Face coverings are compulsory when using public transport in England and Scotland. In Wales you must wear a 3 layer face covering on public transport and put it on before travelling unless you are exempt. It is also now compulsory to wear face coverings when using indoor public transport hubs in England only.

The safety of our customers and employees is our priority, so please avoid busy times, use contactless payment and take your litter with you. For up to date information see our Coronavirus page

Peterborough Queensgate Shopping Centre Bus Station Closure

What is it?

Queensgate Shopping Centre is building a brand new £60m extension that will include a 10 screen Empire cinema and food court.

Why is the East bus station closing?

These large structures require regular access to the roof from the ground, therefore, it is necessary to close part of the bus station temporarily and move some services to a nearby location. The west section of the bus station will remain open.

When will it close?

9 March 2020

When will it reopen?

We have been advised that the works will take up to 18 months to be fully complete, which would see us return the bus station to its original location by Autumn 2021.

Where is the temporary bus stop replacing the East side of the bus station?

Peterborough Council have provided a temporary bus station to be located on Acland Street, which is approximately a 4-minute walk from the current bus station and to Queensgate Shopping Centre.

Which services are affected?

The West side of the bus station will remain open for services 1, 2, 3, and 5.

The East side of the bus station which will be closed, and replaced by Acland Street temporary bus station will house services 4, 6, Busway B, 23, 24, 31, 33, 36, 37, 46, 60, 61, 62 and 63.

Will there be any bus shelters at the temporary bus station?

Yes, Peterborough Council will be installing shelters at Acland Street for all stops.

Will I have the walk across any roads?

For the services at require the use of the temporary bus station on Acland Street and wish to return to Queensgate Shopping Centre, will have to cross Westgate,  a temporary traffic light crossing to allow safe passage throughout this entire period.

Will there be any changes to my timetable?

Change is never easy, and it isn’t our intention to confuse you, we need to adjust our bus times to make sure your journey is a smooth one due to the Queensgate bus station closure.

We’re always working as hard as we can to maintain or improve the level of service you expect.
