Summer Activities by bus

Whether you want to entertain you thrill seekers,  take your water babies for a splash around our simply get out and about in the fresh air with your little explorers - getting there by bus will be just the beginning of a great day out.

Kids love buses! so why not make your journey part of your fun filled day.   

Our group tickets for 2 adults and up to 3 children (or 3 adults) offer great value travel - with different ticket options depending on how far you are travelling.

Corby International Pool

An  outstanding facility well worth a visit, for both a fun day out and a chance to practice those swim strokes over the summer break.  The fun pool has a pirate ship theme, this pool is of varying depths and includes a large 'water flume'.
The main pool is a  50m pool with eight lanes. There is also a four lane twenty metre pool.
For those a little more daring,  there is diving equipment including a 5m fixed platform and four spring boards. 
Stagecoach buses serve George Street just opposite the International Pool.

Danes Camp Leisure Centre, East Hunsbury, Northampton

An Ideal summer holiday activity - take a dip at this pool with beach style entry and flume.  Danes Camp Leisure Centre also has many other activities taking place throughout the summer holidays including swimming crash courses, disco splash sessions and roller skating.  Also worth a mention for the parents and guardians - there is a  coffee shop!
It's just a couple of minutes walk through from Mereway Tesco to Danes Camp Leisure Centre, Tesco is regularly served by buses throughout the day.  

Aquatic Playground, Wellingborough - located on the Embankment.

The Aquatic Playground situated in a public park and the features squirt, spray, jet and pour sheets of water! Children love running through the water as it shoots up from under their feet! Take a picnic and have a fun filled day. There is also an Icecream van and toilet block nearby.  
This water facility is free to use so you can have a great day out without breaking the bank. The Splash Park is just a few minutes walk from the bus stops on London Road at and opposite the Dog and Duck Beefeater restaurant.

Adrenaline Alley, Corby

Where better to take your 'thrill seekers' than the aptly named Adrenaline Alley.  This is the UK`s largest indoor urban sports centre and ramp park offering facilities for BMX, Skateboard, Inline blades, scooters and more.  An outstanding facility - plus it has a coffee shop too!

There is a bus stop right outside on Priors Haw Road.

Irchester Country Park - High ropes, Jungle Parc

From the very high and very heart thumping Xpoler course to the little less daring Adventurer course the Jungle Park in Irchester Country Park is a great way to seek some excitement.

The Adventurer course has over 50 different activities suitable for children from the age of 3+ (minimum height 1.05m).   The Xplorer course is for bigger kids (min age 10 and min height 1.35 meters) & Adults. This course is suspended high in the trees with 50 plus challenges.

The Jungle park high ropes are located in the beautiful Irchester Country Park which is a former ironstone quarry.  Why not  have a full day here and also explore the long and short trails through 83 hectares of mixed woodland by foot or on a mountain bike.  Try a spot or orienteering or visit the onsite Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway museum and Quarryman’s Rest cafe.

Kettering Wicksteed Park

This Northamptonshire theme park has 30 plus rides and there is something for all ages, whether your 'thrill seekers' want rollercoaster's or zip wire's, or fancy something a little calmer like a carousel ride or train ride around the park.

Visit the meerkats, the beautiful birds in Woolloomooloo aviary and do a Tree Top Walk, or try the new 2017 attraction, Sway Rider - if you want to be swung 30ft up in to the air at speeds of up to 30mph for an exciting adrenaline rush.

Wicksteed park is set in 147 acres of parkland with secluded lakes , so there are plenty of places for a picnic or there are many eateries if you fancy a little treat. 
Avoid the queues and parking charges - the bus drops off and picks up right outside the park on Barton Road.

Mounts Baths - Northampton

Being located in the centre of Northampton means Mounts baths is easily accessible by bus.  Mounts Baths has a main swimming pool and a teaching/toddler pool.  Other facilities include: a newly refurbished state of the art gym, dance studio, turkish hot rooms, sauna, steam room and table tennis. 

The pool is just a 5-10 minute walk from Northgate bus station in Northampton.

Rushden Splash Leisure Pool

At Splash there are 2 fantastic pools for you to have a splash around with the family or practice those swimming skills.  There is also a beach entry area and various water fountain features to make for a more exciting experience for your little ones.

The shallow pool is great for younger children enabling them to boost their confidence in water while having fun.  The 25 meter pool is ideal for swimmers with more experience.
Jump off and on the bus at the bus stop at the top of Station Road or at Asda. - just a couple of minutes walk from the pool.

The Pinnacle Climbing Centre Northampton

One for these who like heights -  visit Northampton's indoor climbing an caving centre. 

There are lots of ways to get kids involved in climbing. Don't worry if your children are absolute beginners just looking for a taste of climbing, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the Pinnacle. 

Over the summer the pinnacle are also offering: Holiday Day Camps, Holiday Kids Clubs and the regular RockeeZ Kids Club. 

There is a bus stop about 100 meters away served by route 2 buses up to every 15 minutes (Monday - Friday) and 30 minutes on a Sunday.

Boost Trampoline Park - Riverside Northampton

Boost Northampton is a 30,000 square foot indoor trampoline centre with an array of exciting  activities. There are 50 plus connected trampolines, a Wipe-Out Zone, 2 Extreme Dodgeball Courts, a Battle Beam, Foam Pits and Basketball Hoops. If you have a little one there is also a toddler area.

Boost is located on Riverside Retail Park in Northampton the bus stop is within just a few minutes' walk located on Fairground Way.

Wellingborough Lazer Maze

Located in the ideal place just across from Wellingborough's main bus interchange on Church Street - so fantastically accessible by bus.

Take your kids to Laser Maze for a fast physical game with an exciting atmosphere.   Laser Maze in Wellingborough is housed inside 2700 sq ft  of warehouse. Players of the game are plunged in darkness with laser packs, with the aim to shoot opponents and score as many points as possible - your kids will love it!

Brixworth Country Park

Brixworth Country Park sits next to Pitsford Water in Northamptonshire.  Discover the little grey men trail and explore the woods and meadows - you might even come across the wildlife themed brass rubbing posts! You can cover even more ground if you fancy hiring a bike from Pitsford Cycles.  Stop for something to eat or drink at the Willow Tree cafe.
There is a bus stop about a 9 minute walk from the park entrance located on Northampton Road.

Irchester Country Park

The beautiful Irchester Country Park is a former ironstone quarry.  You can have a full day here exploring  the long and short trails through 83 hectares of mixed woodland by foot or on a mountain bike. Try and spot some of the local wildlife or do a spot or orienteering.  You can also visit the onsite Irchester Narrow Gauge Railway museum and spend some time in the Quarry themed play area discovering the natural climbing frames and ropes.  Take a picnic and relax in one of the many picnic areas or treat yourself at the Quarryman’s Rest cafe.
The Jungle Park high ropes are also located in Irchseter country park and offer something for those seeking something a little more thrilling!.

Abington Park Northampton

Abington Park is Northampton's most popular park., and is a great place to discover for all ages. The park boasts many lakes, Abington Park Museum, sports facilities, a garden for the blind and a cafe if you want to pick up some refreshments. Beneath the surface of the park lies the archaeological remains of the old medieval village - this place is ideal for your little explorers!. 


Hunsbury Hill Country Park - Northampton

Discover some history and recreate your own battle on the crown of the Iron Age hill fort on the crest of Hunsbury Hill!

Hunsbury Hill Park is a 38 hectare site and is home to an ironstone railway system and railway museum managed by the ironstone railway Trust.  The park also has a nature reserve, picnic sites, barbeque areas, children's activity area and playground, plus a viewing point.

The park is open all year round and admission is free.

Bus stops are situated along Hundsbury Hill Road which runs adjacent to Hundsbury Hill Country Park.

Barnwell Country Park - Oundle

The park comprises 37 acres of riverbanks, meadows and lakes to investigate, incorporating  a kids adventure playground, bbq / picnic areas and waterside trails.  Discover the a wealth of wildlife as you complete a nature trail, pop into one of the bird watching hides, or have  a go at some orienteering.  You can grab some refreshments at  the Kibngfisher Cafe.  Located in the heart of the Nene Valley, Barnwell Country Park is a fantastic place for a family day out.
The Country Park is open all day, every day of the year, with the visitors centre open from 10am to 4pm every day -  Admission is free. 
There are regular Stagecoach buses to / from Oundle town centre. The town centre bus stops are approx 15 minute walk from the park.

Delapre Abbey  Urban Country House and Park - Northampton

Explore Delapre - it has one of the most beautiful public gardens in Northampton and is home of Delapre Abbey which is currently undergoing a massive restoration project - the Abbey will be shortly opening its doors to the general public for the first time in more the 900 years.
The area of gardens span 8 acres with open parkland of about 500 acres adjoining the gardens.  At the south of  Delapre estate lie Delapre Woods - why not have an adventure in the woods and try and spot some of the fine oak, sweet chestnut and beech trees.
On 15th and 16th July 2017 Delapre will be hosting the Battle of Northampton event.  
The Conservatory Cafe is open 7 days a week as well as the Billiard Room for pre-booked Afternoon Tea.
Delapre Abbey Urban Country House and Park lies in the southern part of Northampton town just off the main London Road.  Getting the bus to Delepre is ideal, with buses regularly  serving the bus stops right outside the main entrance (on London Road).
