The countdown to Christmas has begun! Get ready for the festive season by joining us at some of our favourite winter light displays across the city
Christmas has come early to North Scotland and the Highlands! There are many events around Aberdeen and Inverness this winter time, that are sure to get your Christmas bells jingling and get you in the festive spirit! Avoid the traffic and parking tickets, and let us transport you to the magical world of Christmas this November.
Inverness' much loved Christmas Lights Switch On Parade will take place on Sunday November 17 through the streets of Inverness - and is completely free to attend. The Parade will start at 5pm until around 6.30pm. Following the illumination of the town house, Santa and the Provost will lead families along Church Street for a very special carol service Ding Dong Merrily Old High in the Old High Church.
Aberdeen will see it's Christmas tree switch on take place on Thursday November 21 at Castlegate. The free event, which starts at 7pm, will charm guests with a short carol service with civic guests from Aberdeen and Norway, prior to the tree switch-on. Entertainment will also be provided by Tutti Voices (Aberdeen Performing Arts), and Gospelkoret Abraham - a choir group from Stravanger. The same night, the Christmas Village will also launch!
The granite city will also host a Christmas lights switch-on parade, which runs from Albyn Place, down Union Street to the Castlegate (Aberdeen), on Sunday November 24.
