Service changes in Inverness, Aviemore and Moray Areas from 7th July 2025

We’re making a number of improvements and adjustments to bus services across the region. These changes are designed to improve reliability, simplify routes and introduce new night time options. Below is a summary of the changes by service area. Many changes include updated timetables, new routes, and night service enhancements.

Service 1/1A – City Centre - Culloden - Balloch/Dalcross Rail Station

Buses between the City Centre and Culloden will run every 20 minutes
Service 1A will continue hourly to Dalcross Rail Station, then become a Service 2 to Tornagrain and Croy.
Service 1 will no longer serve Dalneigh

Services 4/7 – City Centre - Milton of Leys / Culduthel / Lochardil

From 7th July 2025, Services 4 and 7 will no longer operate.
Milton of Leys will be served by Service 2A.
Culduthel and Holm Dell Drive will be served by Service 5B.
Lochardil will no longer have a replacement service from Stagecoach.

Services 5/5A/5B – City Centre - Hilton - Raigmore / Shopping Park / Culduthel

Services 5, 5A, and 5B will offer a more frequent and flexible service.
Buses will run every 20 minutes between the City Centre and New Hilton.
From New Hilton, buses will continue hourly to:

- Raigmore Hospital via Milton and Drakies (Service 5)

- Inverness Shopping Park via UHI (Service 5A)

- Culduthel via Asda (Service 5B)

All 5-series services now run in both directions, making travel easier and more convenient

Service 6 will be withdrawn, but its key areas are now covered by the updated 5-series routes.

Service 8 – City Centre - Dalneigh

A new service replacing Service 1 to Dalneigh.
Will run hourly during the day.

Minor changes to after-school buses.

Service 12 – Elgin – Forres

Will now run only between Elgin and Forres (Thornhill Grant Drive).
Extended to and from Elgin Retail Park.
No longer continues to Inverness.

Service 32 – Elgin – Burghead

Timetable updated to connect with Service 36 for through travel to New Elgin and Dufftown.

Service 34 – Elgin – Bishopmill

The 0838 from Fraser Avenue Monday to Friday will now depart at 0833.
The 1750 from the bus station Monday to Friday will now depart at 1805.

Service 36 – Elgin – Dufftown

Evening trip adjustments.
Connects with Service 32 to provide through links to Burghead and Tesco.

Service 2/2A – Craig Dunain - Raigmore - Dalcross/Milton of Leys

Buses between Craig Dunain and Raigmore Hospital will run every 30 minutes.
Service 2 will continue hourly to Dalcross Rail Station via Croy and Tornagrain, then become Service 1 to Culloden.
Service 2A will run hourly to Milton of Leys via Sir Walter Scott Drive.
Woodside Village and Woodland Drive will now be served by Service 3.

Service 3 – Craig Dunain - Culloden/Balloch

Now includes Woodlands Drive and Woodside Village (previously served by Service 2).
Buses through Oakdene Park and Culloden will now run in a loop, making it easier to travel around the area.

Travel Between Inverness and Aberdeen – Now Even Easier!

Whether you're commuting, shopping, or heading out for a day trip, getting between Inverness and Aberdeen by bus is now more convenient than ever:

Service 10/10A continues to run hourly, offering reliable and comfortable travel.
Service M96 now also runs hourly, with added stops at Eastgate’ Dalcross Rail Station, Nairn Road at Duncan Drive and Nairn Sainsburys—perfect for connecting with local and rail services.
Together, these services provide a bus every 30 minutes along the A96 corridor.
Please note: Service 12 will no longer operate between Forres and Inverness.

Service 35/X35 – Elgin – Aberdeen

Minor timing changes.
Elgin departures moved 5 minutes later.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach North Scotland confirmed: "Due to low usage and rising costs, Service 12 will no longer operate between Forres and Inverness from 7th July 2025. However, customers will still have two buses per hour between Inverness, Forres, and Elgin thanks to increased frequency on Service M96. Services 10 and M96 also offer connections to Forres via Elgin. Service 12 will continue to operate on a frequent timetable between Elgin and Forres, now serving Moray College and Asda to provide a new local link."

Service 11/11A – Inverness - Airport - Ardersier - Nairn

Getting to the airport or the coast is now even easier!

Buses now run every 30 minutes between Inverness and Ardersier, Monday to Saturday—ideal for commuting, shopping, or catching a flight.
This service will no longer stop at Lochloy or Nairn Sainsbury’s.
Need to connect to Nairn? Service M96 now links Ardersier and Nairn via Dalcross Rail Station, offering smooth connections to local and long-distance travel.

Service 27 – Inverness - Dingwall - Contin

Service 27 will now focus on providing a direct link between Inverness, Dingwall, and Contin.
For travel to Inverness Shopping Park or Inverness Airport, use the frequent and convenient Service 11/11A.
Heading to Croy or Tornagrain? These areas are now served by the improved Service 2.

Services 37/X37/337 – Inverness - Aviemore via Grantown

Some early morning and evening trips have been removed between Inverness and Grantown.
Extra early and late trips have been added from Aviemore to Grantown.
