Service Changes October and November 2017

We have listened to your comments and feedback from October 2017, we will be changing some routes so we can improve our bus network and reliability.

Please see full details below

October 22nd 2017

Service 45

Abergavenny - Llwynu Estate

We have managed to keep the Service 45 Abergavenny - Llwynu Estate local service running despite declining revenue from various sources, and increasing operating costs. This service is funded by bus passengers who use the service, it is therefore a commercially operated bus service. Unfortunately we can continue no longer with this situation as we see little hope for improvement in the commercial sustainability of the service with further cuts to funding on the horizon and have therefore reluctantly taken the decision to cease the service on an entirely commercial basis from 22 October 2017.

We have worked with Monmouthshire County Council to assist them in their considerations of providing an alternative service, and have been advised that a replacement service "A2" will provided by another operator from Monday 23rd October.

Service X20

Declining patronage over several years has meant it is not possible for us to sustain the operation of this service on an entirely commercial basis.  Alternative daily buses to Abergavenny from Newport & New Inn are available by connecting with service X3 in Cwmbran or Pontypool.

Service 5

We have made some improvements to the timetable to enhance reliability.

Service C18

Bargoed - Gilfach Estate

Despite declining revenue from various sources, and increased operating costs, we have managed to keep the C18 Bargoed-Gilfach Estate service operating on a commercial basis - this means that it is funded by bus passengers who use the service.  Unfortunately we can continue no longer with this situation as we see little hope for improvement in the commercial sustainability of the service with further cuts to funding on the horizon.

We have reluctantly taken the decision to cease the Monday to Saturday daytime service on an entirely commercial basis from 6 November 2017. The evening and Sunday service are not affected as these journeys are operated under contract to Caerphilly County Borough Council.

We have worked with Caerphilly County Borough Council to assist them in their considerations of providing an alternative service, and have been advised that a replacement service will be provided by another operator on an hourly frequency from Monday 6th November.

Service 94

Some service 94 journeys between Brynmawr and Ebbw Vale are withdrawn due to low use.  Service 94 journeys to and from Abergavenny continue unchanged.  Alternatives for the withdrawn journey include the morning 94 journey from Abergavenny to Ebbw Vale, as well as X4 journeys.
