Where can I use my student pass?
We offer an 3 unirider tickets to suit your travel zone:
Newport, Cardiff or South Wales. Check out the maps at the bottom of this page to find out where you can travel
The South Wales unirider is valid on all Stagecoach buses in South Wales*, not just the bus you need to get to Uni/College. That means you can use it for days out too. Whether it's going to class, the shops, cinema or food and drinks. If you can get there by Stagecoach bus in your zone, you can get there with unirider!
Here’s some travel ideas.....
• Service T4 takes you right to the heart of the Brecon Beacons. Hop on the bus from Cardiff, Pontypridd or Merthyr to Pen-Y-Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. On a clear day you can see for miles down to the Bristol Channel & as far north as Snowdonia!
• Need some retail therapy?! Service 172 goes from Aberdare, Tonypandy, Bridgend & Porthcawl. You can shop at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in Bridgend. Ocean View? pop to Porthcawl for some fish and chips!
• Fancy some culture? We have some iconic Castles in Wales including Cardiff & Caerphilly . You can get there on Service 132 gold or Service 26 gold. The gold buses have USB chargers and comfortable leather seats.

What is 'mytravelpass?
mytravelpass is a scheme funded by the Welsh Government to provide discounted bus fares to young people. It provides people in Wales aged 16 to 21 with approx 1/3 off their bus fare. It's easy to apply online, by post or phone & you can use your pass at any time
How can I buy my student pass?
- If you're 16-21 with a 'mytravelpass' card, you'll be entitled to 33% discount off your student bus ticket. You can buy your ticket online (just select 'longer than a month tickets') and we'll send you a paper ticket in the post (please keep this safe). Simply show your valid 'mytravelpass' card, your college/uni ID which must include a photo and your paper ticket to the driver when you board the bus
- If you're 22 or over, you'll pay the adult student price. You can buy your ticket online and we'll send you your ticket loaded onto a StagecoachSmart student card. Renew your term ticket easily online and get peace of mind that your ticket is protected if your card is lost or stolen. Simply tap your card onto the reader when you board the bus, and remember you'll be required to show your college/uni ID when you board the bus which must include a photo.
What happens if I lose my student bus pass?
We realise that there is a small chance of you losing your ticket, please look after it as it’s a valuable item.
If your card is registered the card to your Stagecoach account you’re protected against theft, loss and damage. It’s a valuable item, though, so please try to look after it. If you do lose it, get in touch with us on 0345 810 1000 with a crime reference or lost property number from the police.
Can I cancel my student bus pass?
You can but why would you want to? If you really find that you don’t want great value bus travel anymore, log in to the website and select the Manage My StagecoachSmart section of MyStagecoach or call 0345 810 100. There will be a small charge to process the cancellation/refund.
