Brynmawr & Abergavenny

X4 / service 3 changes from 13th May 2018

Since late 2014, the works in the Clydach Gorge to build the new A465 dual carriageway have been a source of delays to service X4 on the journey between Abergavenny, Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale, Tredegar, Merthyr Tydfil, Pontypridd and Cardiff.

Through timetable changes, we’ve tried to mitigate the impact that these roadworks have had on our customers. However in recent months, the unpredictable nature of the delays caused by the Clydach Gorge roadworks have increased, and we have had to look for alternative solutions to maintain punctuality.

What’s changed?

  • Certain X4 journeys will terminate at Brynmawr with connections to Abergavenny on Service 3.
  • Times of service 3 have been revised in consultation with Monmouthshire County Council to allow for connections to/from X4 at Brynmawr.

What’s the same?

  • Buses still run hourly between Brynmawr & Abergavenny

We will continue to monitor the service and look to provide extra capacity where necessary to ensure that customers journeys remain unaffected whilst the roadworks continue.
