Explore Dawlish and Teignmouth by Open Top Bus

Buses will resume operation from Summer 2021

 

Our Hop 222 open top bus service runs hourly from Dawlish Warren to Teignmouth via Dawlish. The service supplements our year round local bus services the Hop 2 and Hop 22 to provide 4 buses an hour between Dawlish and Teignmouth.  It’s a 12 minute trip on the open top from Dawlish  Warren to the Green, and the full trip from the Warren to Teignmouth takes 25 minutes.

 

The trip takes in breath taking views over the English channel, and offers stunning scenery of the famous red cliffs. Visitors to Dawlish Warren can take in the stunning views over the mouth of the Exe Estuary opposite Exmouth , take a stroll across the European Blue Flag award winning beach, or visit the National Nature Reserve which spans over 506 acres.

 

The service is a close walk for visitors to the many holiday parks in the area; Welcome, Hazelwood, Cofton, Golden Sands, Dawlish Sands, Peppermint Park, Lady's Mile and Oakcliff.

 

For unlimited travel across the day on any of our buses in the Torbay  zone just buy our Torbay Dayrider ticket. You can buy directly from the stagecoach bus app, or from the driver when you board, it’s £3.50 for a child or £5 for an adult. If you’re out with family or friends; grab the group ticket for £10 for up to 5 people travelling together.

Places to go near Dawlish and Teignmouth

If you’re looking for fun things to do near Dalwish or Teignmouth then the Hop 222 can connect you to places to go for a fun day out:

 

  • Over in Teignmouth you can choose between two of the main beaches, Teignmouth Town Beach is  long and sandy whilst the Teignmouth River Beach has a more traditional feel, and is perfect for fishing. There are also a number of local places to hire paddleboards and kayaks for watersports fanatics.
  • The Seafront is home to the Grand Pier, which is packed with amusements for all the family, a children’s play area, skate park, miniature golf course, and a heated Lido.
  • If you’re looking for an indoor activity, Teignmouth Pavillions offers a variety of local events and screenings or the Teign Heritage Museum has a number of exhibitions and galleries the whole family can enjoy.
  • Dawlish  Warren features distinctive sand dunes and an internationally recognised nature reserve. The beach has been awarded a European Blue Flag nine times and pride’s itself as one of South Devon's top family beaches. Dogs can be taken onto the main beach between groyne 4 and 9 all year round.
  • Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve spans over grassland, sand dunes, mudflats and centres on the 1½ mile long beach across the mouth of the Exe Estuary.  It is known as one of the most important places for wildfowl and wading birds in the South West.  Thousands of birds visit the Nature Reserve to feed or spend the winter. The dunes and grassland are home to over 600 different species of plants living in a variety of habitats including salt marsh, fresh water ponds, wet meadows and woodland.
