Be a Bus Driver

Sign up to become a bus driver at Stagecoach West, where no two days are the same.

We've got positions available for PCV holders or trainee drivers - don't worry if you haven't got your PCV licence yet, our training school will get you on the road in no time. We'll give you a recognised national qualification in Passenger Transport. The qualification is fully funded by us, and you'll earn the equivalent of a fully qualified driver.

There's a few extra things you should know...

To apply for a role at Stagecoach you'll have been a resident in the UK for 6 months or more. You will also need to hold a full EU/UK driving licence which should have no more than 3 points on it and have had no driving bans within the last 5 years. All applicants must have been driving a vehicle regularly during the last 12 months and should have held their licence for at least 2 years.

I don’t know how to drive a bus. Will you teach me?

Yes, of course! We train all of our bus drivers to a high standard so you feel comfortable when you go out on the open road. A mentor will be on board with you for your first few days whilst you get to know your routes. 

 

What are the working hours like?

Stagecoach bus drivers work in shift patterns, so you will be required to work some weekends and bank holidays. However, we have various shifts with different start and finish times. 

 

Will I get the chance to work as part of a team?

Yes! There’s a strong sense of community amongst our bus drivers and you’re sure to see other drivers out on your route. You’ll also have the chance to meet lots of new people every day while you’re serving our customers. 

 

Is there more to the role than driving a bus?

Yes, we’re looking for people with great customer service skills who go the extra mile.

 

What skills do I need?

At Stagecoach Bus we’re looking for people with great customer service skills, in return we will give you all the training you need to become a bus driver.

 

How much driving experience do I need?

You need to have had a full car driving license for at least 12 months in order to become a bus driver.
