Bus services in Stocksbridge diverted due to Yorkshire Water works

From 22nd July Manchester Road at Wharncliffe Side will be closed to all traffic for 6 weeks so that essential Yorkshire Water works can be carried out.

Bus services will need to be diverted.A revised service will be in place for the duration of the works to ensure that customers travelling from Oughtibridge, Stocksbridge, Unsliven Bridge and Deepcar can continue to travel to

Middlewood Park and Ride to connect with Supertram, and onto Hillsborough and Sheffield by bus.
Whilst buses travelling along the diverted route will have longer journey times, we will continue to run buses to the same frequency as normal. We will aim to maintain connections with Supertram as best we can during this time.

We apologise for the delay and   inconvenience the road closure will cause.   We are grateful to Yorkshire Water for   providing funding to cover the additional   buses required to run the diversion   routes. We have worked closely with   Yorkshire Water, SYPTE and Sheffield City   Council to try to ensure that bus users are   inconvenienced as little as possible.

UPDATE: Further to feedback received at the drop in event in Stocksbridge, we have added in some early morning and late evening connections to and from Hillsborough starting from Monday  23rd July.

Download the timetables below.

Customers in Wharncliffe Side, Oughtibridge, Worrall and Wadsley

Service 57 will operate between Sheffield and Wharncliffe Side, Moor Hall Lane (this is where the road is closed so buses cannot run any further).

There will also be additional service 57 journeys running as a shuttle bus to connect Wharncliffe Side and Oughtibridge with Middlewood Park and Ride.

Service 57 (operating Sheffield to Wharncliffe Side) will depart from Sheffield at the same times as normal but journeys to Sheffield will operate a few minutes EARLIER, so please check timetables.

Customers wishing to travel towards Stocksbridge, Deepcar and Unsliven Bridge should connect with SL1 and SL1a services at Middlewood Park and Ride.

Customers in Stocksbridge, Unsliven Bridge and Deepcar

Service SL1/SL1a

From Middlewood Park and Ride, service SL1 and SL1a will run non-stop via Leppings Lane, Halifax Road, Penistone Road and Stocksbridge bypass to Deepcar, Carr Road. Buses will then complete their usual route around Stocksbridge.

Service SL1 will operate clockwise from Deepcar, Carr Road (King and Miller) via Carr Road, Coal Pit Lane and Cedar Road, Manchester Road returning non-stop to Middlewood Park and Ride via the Stocksbridge Bypass and Penistone Road.
Service SL1a will operate anti-clockwise from Deepcar, Carr Road (King and Miller) via Manchester Road, Cedar Road, Coal Pit Lane and Carr Road, returning non-stop to Middlewood Park and Ride via the Stocksbridge Bypass and Penistone Road.

Late evening SL1 services will continue to serve the Leisure Centre and Unsliven Bridge, but connect to Middlewood Park and Ride via the bypass and Penistone Road as above.

SL1 and SL1a buses will be unable to serve any bus stops between Middlewood Park and Ride and Deepcar, Carr Road.

Service 57 and 201

Service 57 will not be serving Deepcar, Stocksbridge or Unsliven Bridge during these road works. Service 201 will be extended from Unsliven Bridge via the normal 57 route to Deepcar and Fox Valley to maintain links and connections.

Customers travelling from Unsliven Bridge, Stocksbridge and Deepcar to Sheffield can use service 201 to Chapeltown and then a service 1 bus to Sheffield. Alternatively, customers can connect (if necessary) to an SL or SL1a service to Middlewood Park and Ride for onward travel by Supertram.

Customers wishing to travel from Unsliven Bridge, Stocksbridge and Deepcar to Wharncliffe Side, Oughtibridge, Worrall or Wadsley should connect (if necessary) to the SL1/SL1a to Middlewood Park and Ride where a service 57 shuttle bus will be in operation.
Service 201 will operate at the same times as normal between Chapeltown and Unsliven Bridge in both directions
