Our award-winning engineering apprenticeship schemes are a great way to start your career with Stagecoach. You can join our schemes at a number of UK locations, starting in August or September each year.
Apprenticeships we offer
We go to great efforts to make sure our apprentices are trained to the highest standards in the industry.
We offer apprenticeships in:
- Mechelec - Mechanical and Electrical engineering combined
The training programme
All of our apprenticeship schemes run on a four year programme.
The first three years are spent learning in the depot and attending a specialist training college in either Wolverhampton or Glasgow (depending on home location).
You will work towards the Bus and Coach Engineering Technician Standard or Modern Apprenticeship in Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance in Scotland
The fourth year of the programme has been specially designed by Stagecoach UK Bus. It is approved and certificated by the Institute of the Motor Industry.
During the course, you'll continue to develop the skills you've already learned by attending in-house courses and manufacturer's technical courses.
During your apprenticeship, you'll be paired with a fully trained mentor to guide you through the programme.
We will also offer membership of the Society of Operations Engineers upon completion.
What you'll need
You'll need to have or expect to achieve:
- three GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 or above
- standard grades 1 - 3
- national 4 or 5 in English Language, Mathematics and a Science (or equivalent qualifications).
You also need to have a genuine interest in engineering.
