STAGECOACH CUMBRIA RELAUNCHES £3,000 BURSARY SCHEME FOR LOCAL SPORTS CLUBS

Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire has launched a brand-new bursary scheme to support junior sports clubs across West Cumbria.

Following its successful launch to Carlisle based clubs this summer, the bursary scheme, named Tomorrow’s Local Legends, is back for round two. The leading local bus operator has £3,000 in funding to give away to local teams across West Cumbria. Clubs can apply for a share of the bursary to help fund the equipment they need to make it to the top, whether its new kits, goals, cones, shirts or balls.

The bursary is open to sports clubs aged between 5 -16 years based in West Cumbria. Each club can request up to £500 of funding to source new equipment.

Stagecoach will be accepting applications from 5th December 2019 to 4th January 2020 and all chosen clubs will be contacted by 6th January 2020. Once clubs have purchased their brand-new equipment and/or kits, which will feature Stagecoach branding, they will be invited to take part in a video, to showcase how the bursary has been spent.

Mark Whitelocks, managing director for Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: “We saw a huge volume of applications for the first bursary scheme over the summer, but sadly were not able to help out all of the teams who applied! For this reason, we’ve relaunched the bursary, and this time we’ve extended the bursary scheme to West Cumbria.

It’s so important to us as a business that we’re doing as much as we can to reduce the obstacles faced by junior sports clubs, and that we’re helping to keep them at the top of their game!”
