Maria was treated to a bus journey with a difference as Stagecoach East Midlands had arranged a whole celebration including flowers, balloons and a nights stay at Newark Lodge Guest House.

Marie Torres said; “I was so surprised when I stepped on the bus on Thursday to find I had won a prize for being the 250,000th customer. I can’t wait to enjoy a meal out and a night-away”

“I have been using the Newark bus route for a number of years. Since the launch of Simplibus, my travel time has reduced and the buses are much more reliable. Simplibus has made bus travel simpler and more enjoyable, I much prefer convenience of taking the bus to driving.”

Simplibus, which runs across Newark, has helped increase the number of people choosing to travel by bus by making timetables easier to understand, introducing contactless payments and making bus routes more reliable.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director at Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “We are really pleased to have achieved 250,000 customers on the Newark bus route. By listening to our customers concerns and creating Simplibus we have encouraged more people to use buses; improving individuals journeys and reducing congestion in town.

“To mark the achievement of Simplibus and to thank our passengers, we celebrated with our 250,000th customer, who was treated to a bunch of flowers, a meal out and a nights stay at Newark Lodge Guest House, which is on the service 3 bus route. We hope others will consider using the service to take the hassle out of their commute.”
