Stagecoach East Midlands announces improvements to Retford Town Bus services

01 Sep 2025

  • Increased daytime frequencies to be introduced to Retford Town bus service in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council
  • New evening service to offer better flexibility to places of work and leisure activities
  • New route giving more links for point-to-point travel within Ordsall

Stagecoach East Midlands has today announced improvements to the frequency of Services 47 and 47A, which connect Hallcroft and Ordsall to Retford town centre. Ordsall will also have a service at peak times, in a significant boost for local people.

The changes, which come into effect on Monday 1 September 2025, will provide better connectivity for commuters to places of work and for leisure activities.

These service enhancements will be funded by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) in partnership with Stagecoach.

On weekdays and Saturdays, buses will now run up to every 30 minutes, giving an extra bus every hour to these areas. This will mean shorter wait times and greater flexibility for commuters, shoppers, and those attending appointments. There will also be an hourly evening service with the last bus from Retford to Ordsall being 11.00pm, and the last bus from Retford to Hallcroft being 11.20pm, making it convenient for those with a late shift or on a night out.

The route has also changed, it will now run around Ordsall in both directions, giving better connectivity to customers who wish to travel from point to point within Ordsall.

Dave Skepper, Commercial Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: "We're delighted to announce this significant improvement to our Retford town services. By introducing better frequencies and an evening service, we're making public transport a more convenient and attractive option for the communities we serve.

“We are always listening to community feedback and working with our partners to enhance local public transport options."

Derek Higton, Executive Director for Place at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Working with Stagecoach we’ve doubled the frequency of one of Retford’s key bus routes added new early morning and peak time journeys and have been able to provide a new evening service with the last bus now at 11:20pm. This is great news for passengers making the bus the best option for a night out or the commute to work with more buses and later buses to get you home.”
