Local bus operator reveals key reliability figures for Catch the Bus Month

• Over 99% of miles operated 
• Catch the Bus Month runs through September 
• Multi-buy discounts available 

Local bus operator, Stagecoach East Midlands, has revealed its latest reliability figures, showing that it operated over 99% of the miles it was scheduled to operate over the past year – as it celebrates Catch the Bus Month.


Catch the Bus Month, which runs throughout September, aims to highlight the role that buses play in transport and society. Stagecoach East Midlands routinely records the actual number of miles that it runs, and where it cannot run them because of factors such as congestion, diversions, or other internal reasons. It has now found that, over the past 12 months, it ran 99.2% of the miles it was timetabled to run – with nearly half of the miles not run due to reasons beyond the operator’s control.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “These figures are a huge credit to every one of our colleagues, who put in a huge effort, day in day out, to make sure that we offer a reliable service.

“We know that our customers rely on our services for important life events, like getting to work and attending hospital appointments, so it is crucial that we get it right. I am very proud to say that the fact is the figures prove you can rely on us time and time again.”

Stagecoach East Midlands also recently announced that £3 Single bus fares for travel around the region have been frozen, and Multi-Buy discounts are available through the Stagecoach App, offering a 10% discount if you buy three DayRiders, 20% if you buy five, and 30% off if you buy 10 tickets.

Meanwhile, Bus Users UK has unveiled research on the environmental benefits of bus travel, finding that a brand-new diesel car, with a single occupant, can emit more nitrogen oxides than a new bus carrying 50 or more passengers. A fully loaded double-decker bus can take 75 cars off the road.
