Women In Bus - Molly Stevenson

23 May 2023

Today’s theme for Scottish Bus Week is Women in Bus, and we are looking at women that work in the bus industry. In this blog, we are showcasing Molly Stevenson, an engineering apprentice at our Glenrothes depot answering some questions on her involvement in the bus industry and some words of encouragement to women who might be interested in getting involved.

Firstly, Molly spoke about what attracted her to the engineering role at Stagecoach. Molly said:

‘I have an avid interest in the engineering industry and the active nature of the role suits my lifestyle.’

Molly went on to describe where she is now with her job:

‘I’m about to start my third year with Stagecoach and feel my knowledge has expanded greatly in the short time I’ve been in the industry.’

Next, she talks about her hopes for the next steps in her career:

‘Once through my apprenticeship, I’d like to continue working for Stagecoach, if possible, but definitely stay working in the heavy goods industry on the mechanical side.’

Molly finished off by saying what she would tell any other woman who might be looking to get involved in the project/bus industry in general:

If you are genuinely interested in electrical or mechanical engineering, there are lots of fantastic opportunities for apprenticeships in the industry at the moment. You don’t have to be strong to be successful, just determined and keen.
