12 Aug 2024

  • Stagecoach donated a total of £4420 between both charities
  • Stagecoach had committed to donating £1 from every journey into Dunfermline on the day of the Gala
  • All parties met at the Peacock Sanctuary for a guided tour.

On Saturday 22nd June, members of the Stagecoach East Scotland team attended the Dunfermline Children's Gala at Pittencrieff Park, giving away freebies and showcasing one of their Electric Vehicles.

There were images of peacocks hidden on the bus for children to try and find and they could enter a prize draw to win £50 voucher for The Entertainer Kace Ferguson!

Stagecoach also donated £1 to charity from every journey that was made into Dunfermline  on the day of the Gala, encouraging public transport to the event. A total of  4420 travelled into the city on the day of the Gala and the donation was split between The Dunfermline Children’s Gala and the Peacock Sanctuary charity with both charities receiving £2210 each.

Douglas Robertson, Managing Director for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be donating so much to The Dunfermline Children's Gala and Peacock Sanctuary. We love attending the gala which is a calendar highlight in the area, bringing so many into the city and is always such a memorable experience for kids and families across the community.  With so much to see and do in Dunfermline, including a visit to the famous Peacock Sanctuary, it’s great to help support both these charities and help bring even more people into the area, now and for years to come..”

Suzi Ross, Lead Peafowl Warden at Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park said: “The volunteers from Peacocks In Pittencrieff Park are very grateful for the generous donation that was received from Stagecoach and their customers. This money will be going towards the new aviary extension which will allow us to incorporate a new nursery enclosure to be used by mums and new babies or for sick/injured birds and give the birds who are segregated, the chance to spend some time outside.”

Kenny Anderson, Dunfermline Children Gala Committee member said: “We’re beyond grateful for the wonderful donation to Dunfermline Children’s Gala. The Gala is part of the City’s heritage, a true community event run entirely by volunteers, and we’re determined to keep it going for all of Dunfermline’s children and families, past, present and future. Stagecoach have given us a massive boost for next year and beyond, and we can’t wait to see everyone there on 21st June 2025 – thank you Stagecoach!
