Stagecoach on a mission to give back this Christmas

10 Dec 2024

  • Stagecoach donates a bus load of gifts to Tay FM’s Mission Christmas
  • Over £2000 worth of gifts donated by Stagecoach staff
  • Staff pool tournament raised over £800 for local foodbank

Stagecoach East Scotland are spreading the good tidings and joy this festive season by donating Christmas presents to Tay FM’s annual Christmas Gift Appeal. This generous contribution is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and ensuring that children across East Scotland have the chance to experience the magic of Christmas.

Stagecoach employees based at the Perth depot, along with staff based at their Head Office on Dunkeld Road in Perth, have donated a range of gifts, aimed at brightening the Christmas holidays for underprivileged children with donations helping to support families in need. Presents, totalling over £2000 worth of donations, were then packed onto a special Christmas themed bus for delivery to Dundee.

The Stagecoach Christmas Grotto bus used to deliver the donations, has already been touring across Perth & Kinross, Dundee and Fife this month, with families booking online for their slot to meet Santa on board.  The free events have been hugely popular with all Santa slots reserved quickly and the company even adding extra dates and locations to meet demand.

Dean Smith, Assistant Operations Manager at Stagecoach East Scotland said “At Stagecoach, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve throughout the year and are proud to be part of this wonderful initiative. We hope our contribution will bring smiles to the faces of children across Scotland this Christmas, and we encourage others to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Other Stagecoach depots have been getting into the charity spirit too, with Dunfermline drivers taking part in a 12-hour pool playing marathon. Darren Brown and Jack Cuthbertson challenged each other to a friendly but intense competition, with their commitment encouraging colleagues to donate over £800 for Dunfermline Foodbank.

This donation will allow the Foodbank to provide food, essentials and support at a particularly challenging time, to those who need it most.

Lee Strachan, Operations Manager at Stagecoach East Scotland said “It’s fantastic to see our team step up and give back in such a creative and fun way. The £823 they raised will make a huge difference for local families, and we are so grateful for their support and the support of everyone who donated.”
