  • Service 99 between St Andrews and Dundee is one of 16 nominations for Stagecoach
  • Stagecoach Scotland also nominated for “Exemplary Contribution to Net Zero” for electric vehicle roll-out
  • Stagecoach also nominated nationally in categories such as “Campaign of the Year” and “Bus Operator of the Year”

Stagecoach, the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, has secured 13 nominations within six of the 16 categories at this year's National Transport Awards.

The National Transport Awards spotlight the dedication, expertise, success and innovation of those working to continually enhance the transport networks across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Stagecoach East Scotland have been nominated in the “Best Bus Service” category for their service 99, a frequent service between Dundee and St Andrews which runs at least every ten minutes, allowing travel around St Andrews, to/from Leuchars rail station and to Dundee in under 30 minutes.

Service 99 transported over 850,000 passengers in 2023, and is well-used by local residents, commuters and students, including those staying in St Andrews who make use of the early morning journeys after a night out in Dundee.

Thanks to a partnership with Stagecoach, staff and students at the University of St Andrews can also save 75% on bus tickets via the Stagecoach Bus App, giving an additional incentive to travel sustainability on service 99.

In addition, Stagecoach have also been shortlisted across Scotland for their “Exemplary Contribution to Net Zero”, recognising their commitment to sustainability as the operator works towards becoming net zero by introducing electric vehicles across town and city networks, including Perth and Dunfermline.

Douglas Robertson, Managing Director for Stagecoach East Scotland, said; “We’re over the moon to see the hard work of our St Andrews depot being recognised as one of the top bus services in the UK in this year's National Transport Awards shortlist.

“Stagecoach puts the needs of the communities we serve at the heart of everything we do, so it’s brilliant to see service 99, which serves the famous Old Course, the university, community hospital and the town, be shortlisted

“We can’t wait to attend the awards ceremony in October and celebrate with our St Andrews team and our colleagues across the transport sector.”
