08 Apr 2025

  • New direct route from St Andrews to Edinburgh Airport, running via Cupar and Kinross
  • Service will run up to every two hours, including late nights and early mornings
  • Coaches on service will feature comfortable seating and luggage storage

Stagecoach has announced the launch of an exciting new bus service, providing direct and convenient travel between St Andrews, Guardbridge, Cupar, Auchtermuchty, Kinross and Edinburgh Airport. The new route, JET787, starting on Monday 5th May, aims to improve travel options, offering a fast and affordable alternative to Scotland’s busiest airport.

The new service, designed to meet the needs of local travellers, commuters, tourists, and students alike, will operate daily, up to every two hours for those looking to connect from Fife and Kinross to Edinburgh Airport.

Journeys on JET787 from St Andrews will take around 90 minutes, with journeys from Kinross lasting around 40 minutes, with passengers being dropped off at the Departures doors of Edinburgh Airport.

The service will also provide additional journeys to the Airport from Halbeath Park & Ride, which is already served up to every 20 minutes, 24/7, by existing Stagecoach service JET747. Other connections are also available at Kinross and Halbeath P&R to connect with Stagecoach’s other services across East Scotland.

The introduction of this new, direct bus service marks a significant milestone for the local community. St Andrews, renowned for its world-class university, historic golf courses, and beautiful coastline, will now be directly connected to one of Scotland’s largest travel hubs.

Sarah Elliott, Commercial Director for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “We are thrilled to introduce this new bus service, demonstrating Stagecoach’s commitment to improving connectivity across the region.

“The new route will make travel between St Andrews and Edinburgh Airport easier, faster, and more affordable. It’s a win for local residents, students, and visitors alike, providing a stress-free option for airport access."

Intending passengers can plan their journey, track live bus times and buy their tickets in advance on the Stagecoach Bus App, with tickets and journey info due to go live in late April.
