Stagecoach announces simpler, more connected Angus bus network

21 Aug 2026

  • Timetable improvements on journeys between Arbroath and Dundee throughout the day
  • Up to four buses an hour between Carnoustie and Dundee, with a bus every 15 minutes
  • Simpler connections across Carnoustie, Monifieth and Ethiebeaton Park, with improved reliability and evening links

Stagecoach is making it easier for people to travel across Angus with a series of network improvements designed to create a simpler, more connected and more reliable bus network.

From Monday 28 September 2026, customers will benefit from more frequent journeys on key routes, improved connections between services and a simpler network linking communities across Angus with Dundee.

The changes will provide more opportunities to travel between Arbroath, Carnoustie and Dundee, with Service 72 providing a more regular service between Arbroath and Dundee throughout the day.

Service 73 will also be enhanced; together with the hourly service from Arbroath, customers will have a bus up to every 15 minutes between Carnoustie and Dundee.

The network around Carnoustie and Monifieth will also be simplified, with existing Services 74, 74A and 74C replaced by a revised Service 73 and a new Service 74.

The new network will continue to provide important links to local communities and destinations including Carnoustie High Street, Greenlaw Park, Ethiebeaton Park, Monifieth High Street and Broomhill Drive.

Customers travelling through Ethiebeaton Park will benefit from improved connections, with the new Service 74 connecting with Service 72 every 30 minutes and the hourly X7. Most connections will take between three and six minutes.

Reliability will also be improved through the introduction of new Service 76A, replacing existing Service 73 journeys serving Cliffburn. While the route and frequency will remain unchanged, revised timetables are designed to support more reliable journeys across the wider network.

Evening connectivity will continue to be supported by Service 74B, delivered in partnership with Angus Council, linking Ethiebeaton Park with Dundee city centre. Timetable changes will improve onward connections with other services.

Fiona Doherty, Managing Director of Stagecoach South Scotland, said:

“We know how important reliable, well-connected bus services are to people across Angus, whether they are travelling to work, education, shopping or simply staying connected with friends and family.

“These changes are focused on making the network easier to understand and easier to use, while providing more frequent journeys on some of our busiest corridors.

“From more buses between Arbroath, Carnoustie and Dundee to better connections at Ethiebeaton Park, we’re making it easier for customers to get where they need to go by bus.”

The changes will come into effect from Monday 28 September 2026. Customers are advised to check timetables before travelling.
