- New and enhanced journeys introduced on key routes serving communities across West Fife
- Timetable revisions designed to improve reliability and punctuality
- Customers encouraged to check service updates ahead of changes taking effect from 17 August
Stagecoach has announced a package of service improvements and timetable changes across West Fife, which will take effect from 17 August and are designed to improve reliability, respond to changing travel patterns and ensure its network remains sustainable for the future.
The updates include new year-round journeys on services 3, 4 and X51, the restoration of evening journeys via Camdean on service 7, improved connections on services 32 and X58, and an additional early morning journey on the JET 787 service to Edinburgh Airport.
Timetables across a number of routes will also be revised to help buses run more reliably and remain on time.
As part of the changes, service 5 between Ferrytoll Park & Ride and Fife Leisure Park will be withdrawn due to low customer demand, while a small number of individual journeys across the network will also be removed.
Service X57 will no longer serve Amazon Dunfermline. Alternative travel options will remain available for affected customers.
Route changes will also see services 83 and 87 no longer serve Ferrytoll, North Queensferry Railway Station and Hillend Village. Customers in these areas will continue to have access to public transport through the extended Go Flexi West Fife service, operated by Fife Council.
The demand-responsive transport initiative has been expanded to help maintain local connectivity in communities no longer served by route 87, helping to bridge gaps in the commercial bus network.
Stagecoach tickets will also be accepted on Go Flexi services, making it easier for customers to continue their journeys.
Fiona Doherty, Managing Director of Stagecoach South Scotland, said:
“These changes are about ensuring we continue to provide the strongest possible network for the communities we serve. By focusing resources on the routes and journeys most valued by customers, we can improve reliability, strengthen important connections and deliver a network that better reflects how people travel today.
“We recognise that changes to bus services can affect customers’ travel plans, which is why we have carefully reviewed travel patterns and demand before making these decisions. Our goal is to provide a sustainable network that continues to connect people with employment, education, healthcare and leisure opportunities across Fife and beyond.
“We are also pleased to see the expansion of the Go Flexi West Fife service, which will help ensure communities affected by changes to route 87 continue to have access to public transport. It is a positive example of partners working together to maintain vital local connections while supporting a sustainable transport network for the future.”
Customers are encouraged to check before they travel, as some departure times and routes will change from August.
Full details, including updated timetables, will be available on the Stagecoach website and through the Stagecoach Bus App ahead of the introduction date.
