Stagecoach has launched a new service which is already proving popular with workers and visitors to the hospital. The company have extended service 59 which runs between Preston and Blackburn to serve Royal Blackburn Hospital.
This extension creates a new cross-town service connecting the hospital and with the western suburbs of Blackburn, such as Beardwood and Preston. Customers using the service can also transfer in Preston connecting the local community to the wider Stagecoach network covering Lancashire.
Operating from 5am on weekdays, 7am on Saturdays and 9am on Sundays through until 11pm every night, service 59 is helping key workers, visiting family members and patients get to and from the hospital at a time that is convenient to them. The frequent service runs up to every 20 minutes during the day time Monday to Saturday and is hourly on a Sunday.
Matt Davies, Managing Director for Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire said: “Now that restrictions have eased and people are beginning to travel more, extending our service 59 to Royal Blackburn Hospital will make it easier for everyone to access the Hospital. Our new link will benefit Hospital employees, outpatients and visitors and provides a viable alternative to using the car.”
