Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake provided the venue for The 151st Open, with the prestige Championship being staged on the Wirral links for the 13th time. Throughout the tournament, Stagecoach Merseyside was once again proud to provide the official Park & Ride service, working closely with The Royal & Ancient Golf Club, Police and other stakeholders to make it a success.
With the huge interest in the Championship and 260,000 fans attending, considerable planning was put in place, ensuring the Stagecoach team of Managers, Supervisors, Loaders, Drivers, Engineers, and Cleaners played their part to a tee.
The Open took place over eight days from Sunday 16th to Sunday 23rd July and assisted in carrying thousands of passengers on our buses for the event being transported from two Park & Ride Sites, Campsite and Hospitality sites!
Simon Tramalloni, Interim Operations Director for Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire, said: “Our team did us proud at The Open this year. Transporting over 100,000 passengers using 55 Vehicles and over 100 drivers and coordinators, all whilst maintaining our normal service levels elsewhere in Merseyside, Cheshire & South Lancashire.
These events are always challenging when running alongside normal operations but a great opportunity for our teams to get involved away from the normal day to day jobs. Our team once again proved their commitment and flexibility to deliver first-class customer service to The R&A, stakeholders and spectators.”
