Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire have been recognised as the best performing eco-driving operator for 2023 by market-leading fleet safety solutions – Greenroad. The
Chris Ball Awards
ceremony was held last week at The Titanic Hotel, Liverpool.
This means that we provide our customers across our whole area with exceptional safe travel, with over 800 drivers recognised for exceptional driving. This also makes our operation one of the most fuel-efficient in the UK.
To complete the Fleet Elite scheme, participants must clock up more than 500 driving hours a year and achieve an average of five or fewer events, including harsh braking, cornering or acceleration, per 10 hours of driving over the calendar year.
If the drivers are successful, they will gain the Fleet Elite standard and a special badge to recognise their achievement. The award covers all our depots at Preston, Liverpool, Birkenhead, Chorley and Chester.
Of the 940 Drivers, an impressive 25% achieved the Master Feet Elite standard for maintaining a Fleet Elite rating for four or more years. The GreenRoad gold, silver and bronze categories recognised the other successful drivers.
Alex Crane, Operations Director for Stagecoach MCSL, said: “We are very proud that our drivers received the Fleet Elite and Master Fleet Elite status this year. It shows our team's excellence and commitment to driving safely and efficiently. The safety of our customers and drivers is paramount; of course, it provides more comfortable and sustainable journeys for our customers”.
The Fleet Elite scheme is linked to GreenRoad, an advanced safety and telematics system that continuously checks driving manoeuvres and helps improve bus fuel efficiency.
GreenRoad’s safety system is installed on all Stagecoach vehicles and has proven to be extremely effective in helping drivers improve their skills. Using a simple traffic-light-like LED system on the dashboard, GreenRoad gives drivers instant feedback about their driving manoeuvres, encouraging smoother, safer and more fuel-efficient driving.
Richard Hemming, Greenroad’s Vice President of Customer Success said, “We are extremely happy to continue to support the annual Chris Ball Awards and Merseyside and South Lancashire continue to deliver a master class performance. These dedicated drivers not only promote a safer way to travel but are also a credit to Stagecoach and to the transport industry as a whole”.
