Back Stagecoach, We've got you

Rivington Rambler 125R Bus Service Returns for Summer

23 May 2025

Rivington 125RThe much-loved Rivington Rambler 125R bus is back for summer from Sunday 25th May, offering an easy and affordable way to visit Rivington Country Park—home to beautiful walks, Rivington Gardens, and the iconic Pike.

Running every Sunday and bank holiday, the service once again includes a direct route from Chorley, meeting demand for better access to one of the area's favourite outdoor destinations.

Operated by Stagecoach, the 125R is perfectly timed to connect with trains at Horwich Parkway and Chorley, linking travellers from Bolton, Manchester, and beyond. Fares are just £1, and all standard bus concessions are accepted.

The service is supported by the South East Lancashire Community Rail Partnership and Lancashire County Council, funded through the Department for Transport’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.

Julie Levy, Chair of the Community Rail Partnership, said: “We’re delighted to be able to run the Rivington Rambler for a further year, providing links to both Horwich Parkway and Chorley railway stations. This bus service opens up the beautiful Rivington Gardens and Pike to many people who cannot travel there by car. It also helps reduce congestion and pollution as people with cars can now choose to travel by bus.”
