• Stagecoach Merseyside secured victory on the pitch

Stagecoach colleagues, local organisations and members of the community recently came together at Chorley FC's Victory Park Stadium for a successful charity football match and family fun day in support of Scotty's | The Military Bereavement Charity.

The event saw Stagecoach teams from Manchester and Merseyside go head-to-head on the pitch, with Stagecoach Merseyside emerging victorious, while families enjoyed a range of activities, community displays and attractions throughout the day. Funds raised from the event will help Scotty’s continue its work supporting children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.

Organised by David Vosper, Assistant Engineering Manager at Stagecoach Merseyside, the event brought together colleagues, local businesses, community groups, veterans' organisations and residents from across the area for a day of football, fundraising and family entertainment.

David said: "What started as an idea for a friendly football match grew into a fantastic community event that brought together colleagues, families, local organisations and supporters for a great cause.

"We're incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered or helped make the day possible. The support we received from across the community was fantastic and created a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day.

"The success of this year's event has already got us looking ahead to next year, and we hope to make it an annual occasion that continues to bring people together while raising funds for worthwhile causes."

Alongside the football match, attendees enjoyed military and emergency service vehicle displays, recruitment and engagement stands, cadet activities, food and refreshments, and family entertainment.

The event also provided an opportunity to strengthen links between Stagecoach and the communities it serves, whilst celebrating the contributions of serving and former members of the Armed Forces.

Stagecoach would like to thank the following organisations for their support in helping make the day such a success:

• Chorley FC

• Ridings Commercial Building Services

• Vision Photography

• The Queen's Own Yeomanry (Wigan)

• Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service (Wigan)

• Lancashire Constabulary

• Chorley Sea Cadets

• Museum of Transport Greater Manchester

Their support, alongside the efforts of Stagecoach colleagues and volunteers, played a vital role in delivering a memorable day for all involved and helping raise funds for Scotty's | The Military Bereavement Charity.
