Customer advice – travelling during the extreme heat conditions on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July

18 Jul 2022

The Met Office has declared a red extreme heat warning for the first time for Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July, with amber warnings also in place. These warnings cover some of the areas of the country where our bus, coach and tram services operate.

The Met Office extreme warning means that there are likely to be delays on roads and road closures along with delays and cancellations to rail and air travel.

We will be doing our very best to keep people safely on the move and operating to our planned timetables, however there may need to be some changes to services on Monday and Tuesday as we deal with the impact of these extreme and unprecedented weather conditions.

We are doing all we can to minimise disruption caused by the extreme heat and look after our customers.

We've relaxed our uniform policies due to the heat, and there might be short delays to some services, as our staff may need to take additional breaks for their wellbeing. Please be kind to our staff who are doing their best under difficult conditions.

We are advising customers to consider whether their journey is necessary. If you do need to travel, we recommend:

  • Try and make journeys outside of the hottest periods of the day
  • Keep hydrated
  • Use our website, app and social media to get up to date travel information
  • Follow the latest Government guidance on staying safe
