Ready to get out and about this half term?

Whether you’ve got big kids or little ones, we’re sharing our top activities to make sure you have a really BUS-tling half term!

Yorkshire 

Not sure what you want to do? The 65 service in Yorkshire is perfect for you! The service runs all the way from Buxton to Sheffield, along a stunning scenic route through the Peak District giving you access to lots of fun activities. Whether you’re looking to hit the shops in Meadowhall or wander around the gorgeous Spa town of Buxton, this service has you covered. 

Top tip for educational visits - the route also goes through Eyam Village. Stop off to learn all about the famous village’s central role in The Black Plague. The Eyam Museum opens for the year on 10th February 2023, so make sure to check opening times before you go!

East Midlands 

There’s so much to do in the East Midlands this half term, it’s almost too difficult to choose! 

If you need to keep the kids busy and burn off all that energy, then there’s no better place than Go Ape! Perfect for the whole family, and well-suited for mini daredevils. You can reach Go Ape on our Sherwood Arrow service.  

Looking for something to get everyone moving and engaged? Try the Lincoln Mystery Treasure Trail. It’s a short walk from Lincoln Bus Station, or you can catch the 7/8 service from the bus station up the hill to the starting point.

Greater Manchester 

Head to Z-Arts on Stretford Road for a magical experience – their interactive Fairy Tales exhibition is suited for 0–8-year-olds, and is absolutely fantastic. Plus, you can follow your enchanted journey with coffee and cake in the Z-Arts Café! Pre-booking is essential for this event, so make sure you check the website! 

You can reach Z-Arts on the 250 and 256 services from Piccadilly Gardens - just get off at Hulme Library, two buildings away from Z-Arts.  

For older kids, catch any bus that comes into the city centre to find something for everyone! Head to the Arndale for shopping or wander down to the Science and Industry Museum in Castlefield. For any football obsessives, the National Football Museum is just around the corner from Shudehill bus station, and only a few minutes away from Piccadilly Gardens.

West Scotland 

If you’ve got curious minds on your hands, what better way to spend a day than exploring Glasgow Science Centre? There are hundreds of interactive exhibits, shows, events and a Planetarium! Plus - a handy cafe for grown-ups to catch their breath and have a coffee.  

Make sure you check their website for any special events going on during half term!  

Glasgow Science Centre is in Pacific Quay, just a short walk away from the bus stop. Reach Glasgow on your local route then jump on the X19 service to Pacific Quay. 

Want to make the most of the great outdoors? Head to Dean Castle Country Park on the X76 bus. Enjoy a peaceful woodland walk or burn off some energy in the adventure playground. There’s loads to do on the grounds, even if it’s still a bit too chilly for a picnic!

South 

There’s so much going on at Weald & Downland Living Museum this half term! Whether you want to dig into rural history in the historic gardens and buildings or stretch your legs on the various trails scattered throughout the 40-acre site, there’s something for everyone. 

Every day there are new exploration activities with everything from table-top jousting and drop-spindle spinning, to treasure hunts in the grounds!  
 
You can reach the museum on the 60 service from Chichester-Midhurst. If you travel by bus, you can get 50% off your admission by presenting a valid Stagecoach bus ticket! You can find more details here.
