Additional buses, free shuttles and a double-decker on the runway to support midnight charity event.
Stagecoach is proud to announce its support for this year’s Aberdeen Runway Run at Aberdeen International Airport on Saturday 23 August, stepping up as a Gold Sponsor and providing extra transport for runners and spectators.
The unique midnight charity race, which raises vital funds for local causes, will see hundreds of participants run the length of the airport’s runway under the lights.
The event starts at midnight and is expected to finish by around 1.30am on Sunday 24 August.
As part of its sponsorship, Stagecoach will:
- Increase the frequency of its Service 727 between Aberdeen city centre and the airport before the run
- Operate additional 727 journeys after the event to help participants and supporters travel home safely
- Provide a free shuttle service between Aberdeen Airport and the CHC terminal, where the race starts and finishes
- Place one of its iconic double-decker buses on the runway as part of the event’s unique backdrop, alongside aircraft and helicopters
David Beaton, Managing Director of Stagecoach North Scotland, said:
“The Aberdeen Runway Run is a fantastic event that showcases the city and its community spirit and we’re delighted to be on board as Gold Sponsor this year.
“We’re proud to be helping runners, volunteers and spectators get to and from the event easily and safely and our presence on the runway will be a striking reminder of the role Stagecoach plays in connecting people in the Granite City.”
The Aberdeen Runway Run is organised by Aberdeen International Airport, with proceeds supporting local charities and good causes.
