Stagecoach says ‘All Aboard’ the Dotto

29 Mar 2023

Need some half-term entertainment? Give the kids something to brag about when they are back in the classroom and take advantage of everything Eastbourne has to offer. Listed as Time Out’s best place in the UK to visit in 2023, a memorable day out couldn’t be easier. And no visit is truly complete without a trip on the local Dotto train!

Stagecoach South East have said all aboard once again this year as the Dotto returns to Eastbourne from April 1st 2023. Cruising between Holywell Retreat to Sovereign Harbour and back, experience the natural beauty of Eastbourne in a completely unique way. Frequently covering loads of local experiences, you can jump on and off the Dotto with ease. Plus, the trackless mini train is suitable for everyone and regular highlight for the kids. Perfect for tired little feet to take a scenic break without missing out.

Stagecoach’s Eastbourne Operations Manager, James Aunger-Third, said “We’re thrilled to be back for another year of Dotto! After a great 2022, Dotto is coming back for even more fun family days out and we can’t wait to welcome the community of Eastbourne back aboard.”

There’s so much that you can do on a Dotto day out. Seaside dips, fish and chips, or a bit of shopping. Even if it’s cruising down the harbour with an ice cream – We’ll be there!”

But what can you expect from a day out in Eastbourne? Well, if you’ve got a history buff in your midst then why not hop off the Dotto at The Wish Tower. The 73rd of the 74 Martello Towers built in the early 1800’s to defend against Napoleon. After a guided tour you don’t have to worry about food as the delicious offerings of Bistrot Pierre are right next door.

If the sea breeze is more your thing, have a classic beach day and get off at Dotto’s stop by the Pier. Let the kids loose amongst Eastbourne’s many shops to find a souvenir or lap up the views at the Waterfront Café. Whatever they want to do, rest assured that Dotto can get you there.

If you want to catch a ride, Dotto is running along the sea-front everyday from Saturday 1st of April, then every weekend until Sunday 28th May. From then, it’ll run each day until October 1st 2023 (Except August 17th-20th 2023 where it will not run).

Dotto costs just £2.50 for a single ride (£1.40 for children aged 5 to 15). A ‘ride’ is any single journey the length of the route, or between two immediate stops and perfect to add a new experience to a day of adventures. Or, you can grab a Day Ticket, £5 for adults and £2.50 per child (ages 5 to 15) to let you and your little ones hop on and off of the Dotto as many times as you need to in one day!

Running as a turn-up-and-go service which operates on a first-come-first-served basis means pre-booking is not available for Dotto
